🧠The Future of Design Prototyping is Here!
And It's Free!
Hello from the heights!
It's Luke Skyward here from Smoothing the Learning Curve!
In this issue, I’m going to share with you a very cool tool that I found this weekend. It’s called Vercel V0, and it’s been made available to the public for free! I believe it’s a great tool for recreating designs and learning front-end code. ðŸ§
🚀 Ready to explore? Strap in and let's launch into the knowledge cosmos!
I feel you. There are currently 6942 AI tools out there that are being shilled every day by the guys from engagement groups on X.
However, I believe Vercel V0 is different, and it’s completely free as well!
It allows you to prototype and create:
Landing pages
Dashboards
Contact forms
Product pages
and more in a matter of minutes!
For a quick overview of this tool, you can check out the 30-second introduction I made:
Vercel V0: How to recreate almost any website design in 5 minutes
Here are the steps to create your first design with Vercel V0:
Go to v0.dev
Screenshot the design you want to recreate or/and type in the prompt of the design. You can choose one of the templates as well. In this example I’m going to recreate my X home page that looks like this:
And here’s the screenshot of the prompt from Vercel V0:
As an output, you will receive three versions of the design that you can choose from. Here’s the one I picked:
Iterate on the design. You can type more prompts to make the design better! In the example below, I changed the background of the Twitter app to purple!
Review the code. The cool thing about Vercel V0 is that you can, at all times, look up the code that generates the design:
That means it’s a great way to learn React/HTML!
You can use the same process to recreate almost any webpage!
Another useful feature is the design gallery. You can see other projects at the bottom of the main page:
You can check the selected design and see all of the steps required to create it (on the side panel):
This is a great feature if you’re looking for inspiration!
Let’s wrap it up!
Today, you learned how you can recreate any website design using Vercel V0 - a new free app made available to the public last week!
Thanks for joining this episode of Smoothing the Learning Curve. I'll see you in the next issue. Until then, keep reaching for the stars! 🌌
Clear skies,
Luke Skyward
