The AI Synthesizer Flywheel

Hello from the heights!

It’s Luke Skyward again - the AI Synthesizer.

So this week I’ve been grinding hard to create a vision for the AI Synthesizers community on Skool. I’m done with the overall plan and this week I will be rolling out the first lessons that you’ll be able to get completely for free!

Why am I talking about this? Creating a course takes your creativity and synthesis skills to the next level and I came up with a cool framework that I wanted to share with you today.

Essentially, it’s a way to systemize the progress on social media - I call it a Synthesizer Flywheel.

So in today’s newsletter, I’m going to describe to you step-by-step what Synthesizer Flywheel is and why you should use it in your journey.

Ready to join me on this journey? Let’s skyrocket!

The Synthesizer Flywheel - A Systemic Approach to Personal Brand

The whole idea behind the Synthesizer Flywheel is to define a set of actions that could be iterated over time and make our personal brand increasingly better with each iteration. The ultimate goal is to achieve:

  • more traffic

  • broader audience

  • more income

  • pursue increasingly more meaningful projects.

And this is the vehicle that I came up with - I will talk about each part in the following paragraphs.

Synthesizer Flywheel

Step 1: Personal Project

The personal project is our way to learn through action. It gives you context and clarity as to where you’re heading. If you define your personal project, you will start consuming the information through the lens of it.

Why is this important? Without the project, it’s easy to get distracted without noticing it. And to make sure, your project is well-defined it should have:

  • outline - what you’re trying to achieve

  • milestones - a list of things that can be used to measure the completeness of the project

  • deadline - the time by which the iteration of a project should be completed

A personal project can take many forms. For example, it can be:

  • X account

  • YouTube account

  • Digital Product

  • Course

  • Application

  • anything you want!

To give you a better understanding of how I define my projects, here’s how I did it for the project that is my first priority right now - the AI Synthesizers community on Skool.

  • outline - free and premium community on Skool where I’m going to empower content creators on how to synthesize information and create persuasive content with the help of AI. It’s my vehicle to achieving my biggest goal for 2024 - empowering 1000+ content creators to master AI synthesis.

  • milestones:

    • 500 people in the free community

    • create a free course (1 module)

    • create a premium course (5 modules)

  • deadline:

    • May 2024

You see - it’s short and simple but defines what I want to do pretty well and can be used to start building!

Step 2: Exploring Interests

After selecting the project, we need to explore our interests. This sets up the stage for defining the content that we want to consume, the mentors that we want to learn from, and the courses that we will take.

In the first iteration of our project, content consumption is key - we want to emulate a successful project that has already been created (or is being created).

That doesn’t mean we want to copy - we want to look for concepts that relate to us and mix them with our own ideas to generate something new. This is the whole point in being a Synthesizer.

For example, my interests are:

  • AI

  • Writing

  • Mindset

so I’m following a lot of creators from that niche, I took 5 courses on AI, writing and content creation to soak in from as many different sources as possible. This gives me a lot of context on how people create successful projects.

You should do the same with your interests:

  • Pick 3 areas of interest

  • Pick 3 mentors from each area

  • Study their content, take their courses. Treat it as an investment.

Step 3: Learn as you build

This is to start the project with your current knowledge. Do not learn first, start first.

How can we do it effectively?

I think the easiest way is to follow the 3 C’s framework:

  • Consume - in order to be a successful synthesizer, you need to consume the right content. As per Steve Jobs's quote: Expose yourself to the best things humans have done and then try to bring those things into what you are doing

  • Curate - when you'll start consuming information, you'll find a lot of conflicting information. This might be frustrating, but as synthesizers, we need to learn how to process the information that we're consuming. I would suggest storing the curated information in one place that I call the Synthesizer Brain - a digital second brain. I’m going to share the details inside the Skool community if you’re interested.

  • Create - This is putting what we learned into action and using this information in the real world. And the way that gives you the most leverage is by creating content. This is why I like X - you can easily test which ideas stick which flop and double down on what works.

Step 4: Teach what you learned

There are several reasons for teaching what we’re learning:

  • Protégé effect - teaching helps you learn that information. So this is a very powerful technique that we can apply to shortcut the previous point of learning as we build

  • Feedback loop - by teaching people you will see if your insights are clear and helpful to others. You will receive input for the next iterations of your systems. This creates a self-improvement flywheel.

  • Monetization opportunities - by teaching people you create opportunities for creating meaningful online income by following your curiosities. Then you can reinvest this income to make your content better and reach more people

It’s an obvious phenomenon - if you try to monetize, you’ll have to make your content and strategy better. Maybe you’ll need to learn new skills like how to write more persuasive copy or convincingly present your offer.

However, if you feel like you’re not ready for that yet - don’t worry. Just keep showing your journey by creating content.

Step 5: Iterate!

To create the flywheel you have to iterate your project based on the feedback that you’re receiving from your audience and clients.

This is why social media is great - the feedback is ingrained in it. You post something - and you get a response in a few hours.

The same goes for your products and services. The first version of your offer or product will not be perfect - but this is what we want!

Based on the feedback, we’re going to improve the product and make it slightly better next time.

As Naval Ravikant said (I might be paraphrasing here): It’s about 1000 iterations, not 1000 hours.

So you might as well do your first iteration today.

And this is why I’m doing my first iteration of the course and community!

Time to wrap it up!

Thank you for staying to the end!

If you liked the concept of the Synthesizer Flywheel, you’d probably want to join the AI Synthesizers community. I will be sharing more details on how to apply it there.

If you’d like to grab a coffee with me and talk discussing synthesizing information with AI, here’s my Calendly link.

Thanks for joining this episode of The AI Synthesizer. I'll see you in the next issue. Until then, keep reaching for the stars! 🌌

Clear skies,
